Observed annually on the first Wednesday of May, National Skilled Trades Day was established to raise awareness about the value of skilled trades workforce in the United States and honor skilled trades workers. The day was also designed to honor essential workers serving as skilled craftsman.
Let’s just say that our skilled trades workers are the lifeblood of WB Industries. We wouldn’t be anywhere in our mission or goals as a company without these individuals. One of our biggest values that we hold most dear as an organization is Quality. In fact, Quality runs through every aspect of our operation. From the estimating process through fabrication and delivery, we make a special effort to ensure that Quality is top of mind in our work. Nowhere is this more evident than in our welding department.
Welding at WB Industries requires high skill and precision. Our fabricator welders are regularly required to utilize engineering blueprints and drawings to produce work that meets the high expectations of our customers.
Most importantly, we’re optimistic about the future of skilled trades and welding in particular. Although reports can sometimes be alarming in terms of a labor deficit, when we visit places such as the American Welding Academy in Union, MO and witness firsthand some of the best the trade has to offer at a welding competition, our optimism in confirmed.
We continue to encourage young men and women to get involved in the trades. There are so many benefits that come along with learning skills like welding. It’s been reported that more than 50 percent of all man-made products involve some element of welding. And with the many of the last generation of welders nearing retirement, now is a great time to get involved and hone a powerful skill.
